R.I.P. Curious the Cat

Is this morbid of me to share? My family had to put down Curious our family cat this past weekend. It was very sad. I like how creative I was in the first grade—what do I want to call my cat? Curious! The Pilgrim part was because he arrived right around Thanksgiving at our doorstep. We suspect he was a refugee from the Oakland fires. Toward the end he was drooling and deaf (he’d just stand by the bed, meowing very loudly until you pet him, and then he would drool all over you). He used to be a feisty kitty, terrified of the vacuum but my mother showed me how the cleaning lady could literally vacuum the dust off his fur as proof of his hard hearing. Anyway, my dad wrote an obit:

Curious Pilgrim passed away today at 12:45 p.m. PDT at the Albany VCA.  He was 20 years old.  He was buried under the plum tree a 806 Balra Drive, El Cerrito wrapped in a shroud with his right paw over his eyes which was the way he liked to nap.  He came into the La Force family the day after Thanksgiving in 1991 and is the beloved cat of Thessaly and Annaliese who grew up with him.  He had a rich and full life as a house cat. He was not known as a mouser, however.  He leaves a legacy of love and a urine soaked carpet where he decided to make his last round of pees instead of in the litter box.  He is survived by Phil of Chicago, Illinois and Catberry and Horatio of New York City. Donations to the Maine Coon Collective are suggested instead of mouse offerings.
